FCL/LCL consolidated/groupage Break Bulk Door/Door Quay to Quay Customs service and information Reefer quotes Insurance cover EXW - EX WORKS The seller will make the goods available to the buyer at a specified place, usually the seller's premises/factory/workshop, this fulfils the sellers obligation. The buyer will need to arrange their desired transport, arranging for export clearance and formalities along with the full obligation to clear on arrival if needed. The buyer bears all the risk.
FCA - Free Carrier The term requires the shipper to hand the goods over to the nominated carrier and a named place once they have been cleared for export. The seller will have fulfilled their obligation once the goods have been cleared for export and delivered to the seller's nominated warehouse. After this point the buyer assumes the risks and costs.
DAT - Delivered At Terminal The term means that the seller covers all the costs of transport (export fees, carriage, insurance and destination port charges) assumes all risk until after the goods are unloaded at the terminal, be this quay, warehouse, container yard or cargo terminal. The buyer covers the costs of transporting the goods from the terminal to the final destination.
DAP - Delivered At Place The term means the seller pays all the costs of transportation (export fees, carriage, insurance and destination port charges) up to and including the delivery of the good at destination. The buyer is responsible for the import duties/taxes if due and clearance costs if required. The buyer is though responsible to unload the goods at destination.
DPP - Delivered Duty Paid The term means that the seller assumes all the risks and costs of the transport (in brackets as above including delivery to final destination) including import duties and clearance costs. The buyers responsible for unloading the goods at destination.
FAS - Free Alongside Ship The seller is responsible for the transport of cargo to the dock, close enough to be reached by the crane to the ship. It is also the sellers responsibility to clear the goods for export. FAS will require a place name to obligate Free Alongside Ship.
FOB - Free On Board The seller is obliged to bring the goods to the port, clear them and see that they are loaded onto the ship nominated by the buyer. Once the goods are cleared for loading and passed the railing for the ship the buyer then assumes the risk. FOB will often by followed by the loading port name.
CFR - Cost & Freight (C&F) The seller covers all the cost of goods from origin to port destination, including carriage costs and clearing for export, but not insurance.
CIF - Cost, Insurance & Freight As per CFR or C&F, with the seller assuming responsibility for insurance for the goods in transit to point of destination or as agreed.
CPT - Carriage Paid To This term indicates the seller assumes most of the cost of transportation, but not insurance.
CIP - Carriage & Insurance Paid To As per CPT with the seller taking responsibility for insurance too.
